Term started again on Saturday 27 April - we look forward to seeing you at the Centre :) The most recent WYO auditions were on 25/26 April, see here for current vacancies. We are delighted to announce that the charity we have chosen to support for the rest of the academic year is Cherry Tree Nursery. Cherry Tree is a local charity providing sheltered work rehabilitation, in a supportive but realistic working environment, for people with severe and enduring mental illness. The charity’s aim is to create a loving community for people who often feel frightened, lonely, isolated and powerless. We will be publicising the valuable work that the charity does and will hold a retiring collection for them at the end of our big summer concert. Updates were recently made to the following pages: WYO Audition Requirements 2012-2013, Joining the CWYM 2012-2013, WYO at National Festival and Schools' Prom, WYO Concert Programme 2012-13, CWYM Staff, WYO Repertoire. After their success in the Music for Youth National Festival finals in Birmingham in July 2011, where they won the award for best symphonic sound, the WYO performed very successfully in the Schools' Prom, Royal Albert Hall on 7 November 2011! The award in July is a huge achievement by the WYO and a wonderful way to help us celebrate the orchestra’s 40th birthday! The award was in recognition of a “wonderful symphonic sound, huge variety of orchestral tonal colours and wide range of dynamics”... A great list of compliments!! They also referred to a “scintillating woodwind sound and coruscating string sound” as well as “edge of the seat communication”!For an article on the WYO's experiences in Birmingham and at the Schools' Proms, see here.
The April 2013 issue of Tutti is available here. The WYO Concert Schedule for 2012-2013 can be found here. Last year, the WYO went on tour to Austria (some photos can be seen here and here). An article about the WYO's 2010 tour to Germany can be read here, with a photo album here. Come and join one of the area's largest music centres! To contact us, click here. |
